The issue with the gallery appears to be with its mysql database file. It must have gotten corrupted when the server RAID array took a dump. Today I found an old mysql database backup from 09/2007 and have restored that portion of the database which held the gallery tables. This means I have lost some work, like albums, comments, captions, etc, but most of the database is there. So in the coming weeks and months, I'll get this gallery back to work.

 

I have learned a lesson and have corrected the backup script, and added another backup script for dumping mysql files daily. Since the files are small, I'll have them backed up offsite. So hopefully this does not happen again. 

It would appear that the gallery database was lost or corrupted when the server's RAID array crashed. I only recently noticed that the gallery was down last weekend.  I am trying to figure out what the issues are and how to get it back up.

 

I also found a memory issue on the server. When I increased the swap size, the server unmounted the swap and never used it again. I have since forced it back to using swap. That should hopefully fix the out of system memory issues I've been having over the last few months.
